Austinmer: 1 Night
Starting our NSW South Coast and Southern Highlands adventure in Sydney we visit a couple of the iconic Sydney sites, The Rocks historic area and the Opera House as well as the Botanic Gardens. From there we out of Sydney through the Royal National Park, stopping for a gorgeous picnic at Audley in the Park. After feasting your eyes on the stretch of coastline from Stanwell Tops we drive down to Seacliff Bridge and stretch our legs while enjoying glorious close up views of the south eastern coast of Australia. Our first overnight stay is at Austinmer with an opportunity for some early morning beach walks before breakfast (or maybe after).
Kiama: 2 Nights
Leaving Austinmer we explore Wollongong, the third largest city in NSW,and a multicultural city of long standing. We visit the historic mining community of Mt Kembla before stopping to tour the largest Buddhist Temple and gardens in the southern hemisphere. This is also where we have lunch before heading to our next stop for 2 nights in Kiama. Here we will explore by kayak, walk in ancient rainforest as well as sampling some of the local food available.
Huskisson: 2 Nights
The next day we head to Jervis Bay via a couple of artistic interests, natural beauty and great food. We have fully catered accommodation for two nights while we take a cruise on the outside of the Bay (weather permitting) and then visit the many beachside attractions of a National Park located in the best spot on the coast!
Bateman's Bay: 3 Nights
After heading out to Kioloa and Bawley Point we arrive in Bateman's Bay in time to tour the Bay in a glass bottomed kayak with a local guide. Dinner on our first night is a degustation menu prepared by a local chef with lots of savour faire. We are here for 3 nights, time to explore not only Bateman's Bay but also inland as well - a little bit of wandering locally. Some of the operator's were lucky to survive (or have recovered from) the bushfires so it's our way of saying we've got you as they make their way out of bushfire disasters as well as out of lockdown.
Bermagui: 1 Night
We try to share our experience with some of the smaller but fantastic communities so overnight next stop is in Bermagui, a great fishing community with an active Aboriginal community and lots of historic sites based around Gulaga Mt (Mt Dromedary) including significant women's sites.
Boydtown: 2 Nights
After exploring some of the beautiful local sights we continue further south to Boydtown for the following 2 nights. While there, during the day, we visit whale museums, historic homes and some of the southern small community towns bird where it's easy to see how such communities revoker and thrive. There is time to enjoy the local beaches or spoil yourself with some spa time or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the South Coast.
Mollymook: 1 Night
Travelling back up the coast with time to wander in Tathra, we then head inland and spend time in the historic village of Tilba Tilba. Australia's colonial past is alive and well here ad in good hands. Again we are off the Princes Highway and staying in the coastal community Mollymook. Don't get the idea that you will get less than the best here. The following morning we visit the nearby winery and learn...well you'll have to come see.
Kangaroo Valley: 2 Nights
Now it’s time to head further inland where the coastal views change to green pasture and rugged cliffs. At Kangaroo Valley we will be spending time learning to cook with experienced chefs (and of course eating the fruits of our labour) as well as wandering the local artisan shops, the bush and of course relaxing.
Bowral: 2 Nights
Today we head further north up onto the highlands, renowned as a place of escape for the rich and famous of Sydney for our final two nights. Of course, it is much more than that. We picnic at waterfalls on our way, stopping to visit galleries and gardens that delight the five senses. Our accommodation is yet another place ‘with a difference’. From here it’s back to Sydney for a final farewell where we send you on your way with many happy memories and a lot better knowledge of the beauty of the NSW South Coast and Southern Highlands.
